Camogli, Liguria, Italy

The Last Days of Summer

Camogli is a fantastic little town nested between the mountains and the sea and, with the right light, its colors can be awe inspiring. I was lucky to get there one late afternoon at the end of September, when the sun in the west was lighting up the houses on the waterfront, all painted in tones of red and yellow, while a storm was brewing on the mountains to the north.

I love when the weather conspires to create these contrasts and, as a photographer, one should always hope for bad or mixed weather. The people on the beach would certainly disagree.

If you come down to Cinque Terre from Genoa, a stop in Camogli is highly recommended.

Equipment: Fujifilm X-E2, Fujinon XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR.

Exposure data: 1/1100s at f/2.8, ISO 200.

Why f/2.8, you might ask? Because I was so awestruck by the scene that I completely forgot to check my aperture. Luckily, even my closest subjects were so far away that everything is still reasonably sharp across the scene.
