Boka Kotorska, Montenegro

Montenegro Sunset

To reach this location, one needs to take the road going south from Kotor, Montenegro, then take a left turn and drive up a narrow road along the face of the mountain. After 25 hair-raising hairpin turns, one reaches the first of a series of viewpoints that overlook the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) and offer a terrifying view of the rugged and varied coastline of Montenegro.

The worst thing one has to endure is the Montenegrin drivers that run up and down the road at excessive speeds, trusting that others will steer out of their way in time.

We stayed there for a while, hoping that the sun would peek from under the clouds, but that didn’t happen, so I decided to get the most of the light we had, right before the clouds closed completely and swept my camera across the landscape, shooting nine images to be stitched later in a panorama that would include the whole bay.
